Dave, and Arnold, I have a somewhat different vision of this workshop so maybe it would be better to discuss over the phone. I guess my goal for the workshop participants was less about "module development" and more about orienting the participants to the features of, needs of, and opportunities in CAMEL, and at each step of the way, soliciting their feedback on how we design CAMEL to meet their needs and interests. If we can get this first group to help us develop and shapre CAMEL, if we can get their buy-in in this way, I think we will have a good start on the CAMEL community. Arnold, do you want feedback on the framework or are we declaring the framework locked in at this poin??. It might be helpful to have the participatants give us feedback on the framework: do it make sense, do the topic areas seem clearly stated, where are the gaps? Can you think of a cc topic that doesn't have a home on this list of topics? As for faculty development and community development strands of this workshop, I think it would be beneficial to ask this group what's the state of their climate change/climate solutions teaching, either theirs alone or at their institution: how far along is it? how developed is it? where are the gaps? What is their experience with students? What is working well and where are there problems? How would CAMEL's resources, faculty development activitiy or community development activities help? I also think this needs a substantial chunk orienting the participants to community development: what the Trunity tools are for community development and how Peter imagines that the CAMEL community will be built via use of specific tools. One of us needs to take the group through the different tools that will be available. Somehow I am less excited about using the majority of workshop to work on curriculum or materials development -- unless we can find a way to group people up into groups of faculty with really similar interests. Jean, this is fine...except for the orienting to Trunity part. The current EarthPortal is not going to cut it for CAMEL. Maybe we could emphasize trying to get people to help explain to Trunity what would make the Earthportal a destination for professional networking.
