  Existence happens, just like shift happens.  As climate changes, local food security is imperiled.  What do we do??  Grow our own food !  How do we do that?  I dunno.  We better try something.  Thus Existence - the role play game.  We are setting up a community structure and there are too many variables and not enough knowlege.  How do we verify our knowledge.  By building models, conducting thought experiments and running field tests.

   Existence is not just about food - it is about developing a different way of life.  Dr. Lenny Thyme works with the chemistry of natural resources - looking at methods of transforming matter, energy and spirit efficiently.  The discussions will span a dversity of topics from aardvarks to zz top with a focus on developing people.  This means locating each player character in a role that develops their own personal interests.  Existence is a cooperative game - where score is relative and used for comparative purposes.

   Existence is an idea moving to the next level.  Gaia Villages are forming all over the globe, where people come together in a different manner.  The word community has meaning on many different scales - but it has to work for the individual and the group must produce a means of sustinance.  As we come together out in the real world, this game can be used as a sounding board to spread the knowledge through a new school of thought.  We grow crops, cottage industry and edutainment and trade the surplus that we generate to other nearby communities.

   The game Existence runs in eight levels simultaneously and participants observe different guidelines at different levels.  The levels are determined by the amount of responsibility of the role - each player gets to define their role within the borders of what the community is trying to achieve.  The first virtual community will consist of play testers who help Dr. Lenny set the initial parameters for comparative scoring.  Events get scored when they are logged in.  The matrix of the metrics depends on the outcome desired from the event - are we creating a POD, growing a garden, or filming a video?  Participation occurs by attendence at the events and score is normalized to each level.

   As the Digital Universe Expands - Existence should morph into a virtual template for actual activity.  Real classes will be offered through an on-line classroom.  The idea is to create an education system (i.e. a school of thought) that works for the individual and the community in teaching to specific interest.  Everybody learning should teach the information to somebody else as a means of getting the lesson down.  Everybody teaching should have a project in mind that they wish to accomplish by teaching their specific skill, while learning from the group assembled.

   The guidelines for Existence will be published as soon as the publishing interface of this Digital Universe is functional.  This book also has pictures of nature and accounts of the early community ideas that are forming.   Please realize that Existence is a model system developed as a role playing game to develop methods of approach to challenges that were created in the past mind-set.  This is designed to provike thought - everything may not work quite the way we expect.

   The first game of Existence will start on July 4th, 2009.  This pre-game will be used to adjust the parameters and get the website set for exchange of information and translation of data.  The curricula of the areas of focus for Summer 2009 are already set.  It would be nice to launch the second game for general public consumption on Labor Day 2009.  All play-testers will be grandfathered into the system when the change occurs.
