This powerpoint presentation gives an overview of some of the types and examples of evidence used to deduce natural and anthropogenic climate change over various time scales. This includes deep geologic time, the last million years and the last few thousand years (historical times). The emphasis is on climate proxies, historical data, and more recent instrumental data. The opportunities for teaching with various data sets available for these climate proxies is large and worthy of investigation as a way of engaging students in quantitative reasoning with a topic of interest if not concern
